I get it, its hard to want to do a winter wedding when the summer sun is calling
your name. As a wedding planner and someone who got married in February I can tell you all the reasons that having a winter wedding was the best decision I made and why it might be right for you.
We all know that winter has a special ambience to it; words like romantic come to
mind, so why not have a wedding during the most romantic time of the year?
Everyone is in the holiday spirit and ready to take the time off and spend with
family. We also know that it can be busy with Christmas and new year parties (I
would love to plan a new year wedding!) but have you thought about January or
February? Not only are people still in the holiday mood but a lot of people still have the time off.
These months are when the venues and vendors are all available so you have the
pick of them all on any date! You will have your dream vendors and save on winter pricing. If you really need more reasons to hold a winter wedding you can always escape somewhere warm for your honeymoon and save big there too! WIN WIN! Now let's talk about all the cool things you get to do in terms of your theme without going all “Frosty the Snowman up in this place?”, as my friends over at Purewow say.
Yes pretty photos in a field or beach is amazing but so is a mountain top covered in snow, or kissing in the falling snow, and lets not forget an amazing indoor session where you can get really creative and not have to contend with the weather at all.
Neon Signs, you know you want it.... When it's time to dance and the lights go
down, turn up the party with neon lights by the bar, the DJ table and around a
lounge area. One may think that neon lights is more a summer night party feel but
that is exactly why you should have them in your winter wedding!
“Yes, you read that correctly. You can incorporate a show stopping ice sculpture in your décor, or keep your champagne cool in frozen floral ice buckets.”
Now, not that we need an excuse to use rich hues and lots of texture but the winter months definitely add a certain “je ne sais quoi” to the idea. I love the idea of taking the airy and light colours of the spring and summer weddings and adding edgy black accents and metallics. Winter weddings can also open a whole new feel to your wedding when choosing a venue. Industrial spaces, museums, grand libraries. There is more opportunities to be creative with your decor and venue with dates wide open.
Can we also talk about fashion?! I may be a sucker for velvet and 2018/2019 shows that this elegant trend is not going anywhere soon. So put your man in a velvet suit and not only will he look dashing but it will also keep him warm.
O, my sweet bride! The opportunities to stand out on your wedding day. The cooler weather provides endless opportunities to get creative with puff sleeves, long sleeves, pant suits, wedding jumpers and edgy jackets. Look amazing without being a hot mess. I dare you to be amazing!
