Your bridesmaids are the ones who have been there with you since day one! They will be so excited to be part of your big day. Being a bridesmaid comes with a lot of responsibilities. We're here to talk about what NOT to expect from your bridesmaids!
We've heard horror stories about brides asking their bridesmaids to lose weight, pierce their ears or some other body alteration. Or there's the opposite, of brides not wanting their bridesmaids to change their look too much - think dying their hair or getting a tattoo. It might be your wedding, but it is certainly not your body. You love your bridesmaids, so show them that by not asking for something that will only end in hurt feelings!
Expecting your bridesmaids to pay for their own dress, shoes, hair and makeup, the bachelorette party, accommodation and travel is often the norm. But expecting them to spend a fortune is just not cool! Your bridesmaids will most likely all be on different budgets. We recommend talking to each of them individually about what they can do, and what you expect from them financially - don't just expect them to fork out thousands of dollars for the big day!
We know these are your besties and you probably want them there for a lot of the wedding planning! Depending on where all your bridesmaids live, they will most likely love to help you out with some things! Think wedding gown shopping or cake tasting. But don't expect them to come along with you to every appointment you have!
Buying a bridesmaid dress only to never wear it again is such a waste of money and closet space. Instead, give them the option to rent their dress! It's a great way for you to get the bridesmaid dresses of your dreams while also considering the needs of your gals! Learn more about renting your bridesmaid dresses here.
Your bridesmaids love you and will be there for you throughout the whole wedding planning process. Want to know what you CAN expect from your bridesmaids? Read our blog that tells you all the bridesmaid duties here.
